The Fontana Bucks started the 2017 Pop Warner Football season with a 32-0 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Panthers this past week.
The locals started the game on defense and did not disappoint, forcing Rancho to turn the ball over on downs. When the offense took over, the Bucks marched down the field with key runs by Julian Ruiz, Biruk Johnson and Jayden Collins. Devin Hoze had a nice run for 25 yards and the score.
On the next possession, Fontana drove in for a touchdown by Johnson, who finished the day with 66 yards rushing.
Ruiz ended up with 88 yards and two scores.
Eric Butler Jr. completed 4 of 6 pass attempts for 55 yards, including a pass to Ransom Mitchell-Thomas for 35 yards. Butler ran in for the extra point.
Edward Schultz rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown. Other key contributors on offense were Brandon Garcia, Olyjah Bonilla, Jerimiah Newman, Samual Vasquez, Victor Tellez Jr., and Vicente Ortiz.
On defense, the locals only allowed Rancho to gain 55 yards in total offense.
Damond Stewart contested two passes thrown his way and made 4 tackles to lead the defense. Paul Solis Jr. had three quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery. Syrano Ware finished the night with 4 tackles, two of which were for losses. Other key contributors on defense were Abraham Aguilar, Frank Ruiz Jr., Jonathan Bruno, Frank Rodriguez, Levi Nixon, Jeremiah Jewett, and Steve Bedoy Velasquez.
